J Sargeant Reynolds Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

The deadline for the application is a couple of days away, so I figured I would start a thread for those applying. I did a last minute retake of the Kaplan today to try and boost my Science before applying and managed to get my score from 55 to 80, for an overall of 89. Just sent in my application and am anxiously waiting to hear back.

I don't know the exact number but I remember during the information session they said that the spring has less applicants than the fall, but there where more applying this year than in the previous spring.

Thank you so much for taking time to share your insight and experience so far. I've read and reread what you've shared. Hope that things are finally smoothing out (as much as they possibly could) within the program for you and everyone. Don't understand how folks can be disorganized with something that's so important.

I know the school doesn't necessarily have the best reputation; it stinks to hear stuff like that but the transparency is very appreciated. Still excited to begin this journey and have a career. Hanging on to that hope! I'm still super anxious but this information is so helpful - can't say thank you enough. Didn't get an email alert with your responses, but glad I checked the thread tonight. All the best!

How's everyone feeling? I'm super anxious. We'll be hearing back soon. Was hoping for this Monday, which would be 4 weeks. But the "confirmation of receipt" email says up to 6 weeks. Trying not to think about it too much, but here I am. It's frustrating because that info session powerpoint packet says 4 weeks is the goal.

I think last year the spring class didn't find out until early October, which seems a lot more realistic than the 4 week goal.

Hello everyone I applied to the spring cohort as well. My overall Kaplan score was 86%, I really hope that is high enough to get accepted. This is now week four and I am anxious, nervous and excited to see if I got in. Hopefully we will know something by the end of September! Do anyone else have to take the prerequisites for the program? I'm currently taking BIO 150 which leaves me with only ENG 112 to take while I'm in the program.

Where do you register to take the CPR class?

I've got Bio 142 left to take! Last semester had me going crazy lol Took Bio 141, Bio 150 and Eng 112 - but it was worth it to lessen the load for the future.

Is it CPR or the BLS Certification that you need? If you work at a hospital such as Bon Secour or VCU I know they pay for employees to get there certifications. The Red Cross in Richmond offers the classes also.

Hopefully we hear back within the next 2 weeks! I need to know! Did anyone else also apply to J Sarge or Bon Secour?

HLT 105 is the CPR class offered at the school and I believe there are some October classes still available. I just took the September one this weekend. It's the CPR BLS certification needed for the program and it counts as a class towards your major (so it's eligible for financial aid) if you're in the Health Science major that just replaced Pre-Nursing.

I'm currently taking BIO142, ENG112, and PHI220 (one of the Ethics electives we eventually need). My plan is to take BIO150 in the summer.

I have taken all of the classes needed for admission and all of the corequisites needed for the program. All I need to complete now is the nursing courses. I have already completed my CPR thank goodness. I believe just to double check on this our CPR card has to be American Heart Association approved. I am getting nervous we are approaching week 5 tomorrow. Does anyone think we will find out sometime this week or next week??

Bon Secour has already sent out there decisions and the first week of October seems to be the trend. Fingers crossed!
