J Sargeant Reynolds Spring 2019

The deadline for the application is a couple of days away, so I figured I would start a thread for those applying. I did a last minute retake of the Kaplan today to try and boost my Science before applying and managed to get my score from 55 to 80, for an overall of 89. Just sent in my application and am anxiously waiting to hear back.

Hi, @larkinbourne! I don't think you have anything to worry about with that score - it's excellent. I got an 85 overall and sent in my application, hoping and believing for the best. Be on the lookout for your confirmation email that they (King) received it. End of September we should hopefully get our letters of acceptance!

I applied for the Spring 2019 cohort as well! Im ready to enter this class! I've taken all the non-nursing courses needed (AP2, microbio, ethics, eng 112). At this point, I just need to get into the program! Lol Good luck to everyone and I hope we get some great news at the end of September!

Hello everyone!

I sent my application last minute (today!), a little nervous but excited. How'd everyone do on their Kaplan? My overall was a 89 fingers crossed thats enough!

I got an overall of 90.5. It seems like it's going to be super competitive this semester (again). I've seen mostly scores in the upper 80s. At this point, people aren't taking any chances and are claiming their spots! I hope the program has enough instructors to allow a high acceptance.

Hi guys. Does anyone know how many people they are accepting? My kaplan was an overall 78.. hope that's enough? I've seen people get in with a 72!

I went to the last information session in July and was advised 60-70 people. However, there has been an issue with hiring enough nursing instructors. I heard the Fall class accepted 80 but I'm not sure. I can only hope they accept 80!

Since the nursing program only accepts a certain number of people, the avg Kaplan scores change from semester to semester. In the past the avg score may have been in the 70s. I've been told by Mr. King that the avg scores have been increasing these past semesters. Only time will tell what the avg scores are this go around. Mr. King advised to just score as high as you can and hope that's good enough.

Do you know if they look at the individual scores/percentage for each section? Or do they only look at the overall score??

It's the highest score from each sub category, which is great!

Everyone has such strong scores. Well done, peeps! Thinking back to the info session I went to - feels like everything that was said there can be thrown outta the window at this point in regards to scores. Like someone else on here did, I completed most of the non-nursing courses (with the exception of Bio 142.) Anyone else trying to get stuff together already, like getting CPR done? I just want to be apart of the program so badly and begin the journey to becoming an RN!

I'm in the same boat! I'm registered for the CPR course this October. I want it so bad, I can taste it! Lol I'm also trying to apply to the ODU concurrent nursing program as well. I'm finishing up my last two pre-reqs now. Once we're accepted into the nursing program, I'll be applying to ODU's concurrent nursing program as well.
