Online Microbiology at UNE?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi everyone!

I'm wondering if anyone here has completed Microbiology through the University of New England's online program? I'm familiar with distance learning through a different college, and the ABSN program I'm hoping to get into has confirmed they'll accept online lab courses so long as the school is regionally accredited. So that's all fine. But it's a new school and I'm having trouble finding posts about this particular course at UNE. I'm supposed to start this course in two weeks and I'm feeling a little nervous. If anyone here has done micro through UNE I would love to hear about your experience with the course.

Thanks! :)

Do any of you have any advice on how to prepare for the final exam? Is it similar information/questions to the previous unit exams? Any help would be great.

How did you end up doing on the final? How many questions? Were the questions similar to previous unit exams? Thanks!

Hi Acadorin, what did you think of the course and final? Any help would be appreciated!

Hello,

About how long do the labs take in this course?

Hello,

This post is very helpful! About how long do the labs take in this course?

I'm in this class right now and feel it's extremely hard. I don't care how much I study, I can't always find the info even though it's open book. i've always been an honor student and wonder if I'll even pass this class. Right now I'm retaking Unit 2 exam and there are 3 diagrams that are not labeled and I can't replicate them anywhere in the book or online and it's over 30 points on the exam. Very frustrating.

I'm very concerned about the final as I don't even know what to study. The vocabulary tests alone are over-whelming and a lot of work. The unit exams take 2 hours to complete.

Unless you want to spend hours every week, I would not recommend it.

hey there thanks for the info! who was your professor?

For those reading about the UNE microbiology as of Spring 2018, the class did change somewhat since the earlier portions of the thread. The class now uses HOL software for its lab portion. There are about 12 labs to complete with a more "hands on" component involved in each one. They have also added a lab final in addition to having to take the normal lecture final. Both of which are still proctored by proctorU.

Can you please provide more information on the class? How has it changed? What are the labs like and how long do they take to complete? Any additional information is greatly appreciated!
