Online CNA program

Published

If anyone is interested, the online CNA program through Tennessee Board of Regents and Tennessee Tech Centers is going to begin in the SPRING!!!! I'm really excited because I was afraid that I was going to have to push my RN entrance back again because I can't seem to find a CNA program that works with my schedule.

So I'm planning on entering TTC Knoxville's program in the spring and then the RN program in the Fall.

Hey dee78 can u elaborate a little about having to push back your RN entrance due to not finding a CNA program. Like, is it a requirement that you have your NA certification before you can enter that RN program?

Nichole, I'm not sure but I'm guessing she wants to do the online regents program for RN (they admit fall and spring). TO do the online RN program, you must have a certification in something healthcare (like CNA, EMT...) so the schools are recommending to get the CNA. I was thinking about it too, for flexibility. You do clinicals locally through your school. Dee, do you know how much & how long the online CNA course is, and how are they going to set up clinical.

ooops, just realized her post was from 2008 :jester:

I just checked the RODP website, it still says that the online CNA class is coming soon, glad I didn't have to wait for it.

To answer, acubed is correct. I needed the CNA class in order to apply for the online RN program.

Both of these online programs are new, the start dates have been pushed back several semesters. The RN program started at some schools this semester and is supposed to start at all schools (Tenn Board of Regents schools) in the spring. But I'm still waiting to hear back from my school, they hadn't made their selection as of mid Oct.

Dee and everyone else who is interested in the online RN, I would be very very careful, bcse the RODP online RN is not yet accredited so they will have to wait to graduate their first class then seek accreditation. SOme places have it together and get accredited after the first class, but some have to wait several semesters/years. I would suppose that since it is the regent's program that they shouldn't have a problem getting accreditation, but you never really know.
