Online Classes...

Published

I have never taken a 'fully' online class. I have taken classes where the prof's had a lot of online assignments, but never a www class.

This next quarter I am taking 1 tradition class (organic chem) so I decided that I would take 2 online classes. Sociology and Western Civ (BSN requirements) I am just worried about the work load.

Do online classes tend to be harder easier or about the same as a normal/traditional class. For me, having 3 children, online classes seem to be the way to go, but I worry that I might have hurt myself. I am very driven and don't need someone hovering over me to get my work done, so that part wont be a problem.

I am looking for experiences good/bad/ugly of online classes.

TIA!

Well-crafted open book tests can be very hard. My take home A&P tests (not online) took 3+ hours each, IF you'd studied ahead of time.

I completely agree. My Sociology 101 open book/take home tests were unbelievable difficult and took at least 3 hours to complete. And the material in that class was overall pretty easy to understand!

I'm a firm online class believer. And its true, just because a test is open book doesn't mean its easy. I had one girl in my bio class ask to put a study group together, since I wasn't near her I told her I couldn't but gave her my tips. She said she wasn't doing well at all, while I on the other hand am doing good.

Thanks for the responses! I am not looking for 'easy' I just didn't know if because it was 'online' it was going to be more difficult than a regular class.

My personal belief is, I am going to NS because I want to be a good nurse, obviously these classes no matter how trivial I feel they are must be important, so I am going to learn the material and do my best.

I can't wait to see just how the set up is for online classes. I am SO excited to be going back to school after taking a quarter off!:yeah:

Lucky you! All of the classes I have taken have been very involved.

This summer I took Western Civ. and had to do a 500 word report on a subject from the book along with three discussion questions and three responses to others. On the week of the tests I had to do all of the discussion and responses and also a 250 word report. It wasn't the piece of cake I expected it to be.

I have had to get a proctor for all of my online classes. I have never had an open book test online.

Hi there - just wondering if you know of a good online or self paced Chemistry class - I am getting my pre-req ready for an accelerated program in nursing and just found out I am not going to make it by August due to one chem class - I have been looking all night - need to finish the class by end of January - I got my first degree in 1991 and am going back to school - waited for the gal to call me back and instead relied on what the secy told me - ugh!

Thanks for your help.

CCCOnline has a Intro to chem class w/lab. Its 5 credits with no pre-req. I am going to be taking it next summer this way. Sorry, but it can't be done by Jan. The earliest this one could be done by is May 3 if you do the spring session.
