Online classes

Has anyone taken any online classes?

I am signing up to take an online class for developmental psych and I was not sure really what to expect and was looking for feed back on how it works.

Thanks!

I saw your post regarding online classes. One huge tip....BE ORGANIZED! also be very focused. Try to discipline yourself when it comes to logging on and responding and participating. Doing online classes are wonderful cuz you can log on in your pajamas and tea after you put the kids to bed if you have any. I took some business classes and the interaction with class mates were great. That's pretty much it. Good luck on your journey. I am starting a 10 month LPN program in September so I know I have to get my act together. Oh also, if you are an index card user....buy them. They are great when you have to remember terms and helpful for quizzes and exams. Color coded ones are great. Ok. Take care!:lol2:

Are you required to sign on at a certain time? I am just curious bc I am working full time, taking nursing classes at Beth Israel School of Nursing t-th from 530 to 1030pm.

Online classes did not exist when I got my Bachelors degree so this is a new world to me.

Good luck with your LPN!!! Congrats!!!

Hi Shmitty:

From my experience, I went online 3-4 times during the dayand at night. The beauty of doing online classes, you can log in 24-7. My point what I was stressing is that you should log in often because your instructor knows the amount of times that you log in and post, etc. I'm sure u want an "A". I obtain my bachelors strictly attending in person. Then I wanted to obtain my master's but not rushing from work to school and getting home at 11pm or 12. I had alot of flexibility when I was taking my master's courses at work. So I'd log on, see what the conversation was or assignment, etc and then pick it up again after I cooked dinner for the family, etc. There were times when I fell behind when a paper was due and ended up doing an all nighter and had to get up and go to work :uhoh3:!!! I put the program on hold. I have about 6 more classes to do online. The opportunity at my job allowed me to take prep classes for the c-net and then when i passed, the school i am attending interviewed me, then i was accepeted. my job received a grant. Once i pass the nclex, I will have to give my job back 3 years work as a LPN. So I think it's great. What year are you in? Are you an LPN already?

Anyway, take care. We'll talk again.

Hi Debdeb....

I understand what you mean. I took the C-Net exam. I have taken this exam at least 7 times. I had problems with the math and also the reading section. To my surprise, I passed! I work for a LTC facility in the bronx. They received a grant and 11 of my class mates will be attending the BOCES-Southern Westchester 10 month program starting in August 2007. Don't give up. Continue to study the math...adding, subtractions, decimals, fractions, conversions, measurments. Obtain a study guide and/or check out a basics math book..9th grade.

Good luck with everything! The main thing is DON'T GIVE UP!!!:nono:
