Online classes

Hello Everyone!

I was interested in taking anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 online but can not find any that have online labs. If anyone knows any information (websites/ phone #s ...etc.) they can give me, please do so!! Its greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance...

Christie

p.s. maybe even microbiology also?

I am curious how it is possible to have an "online lab" for A&P. I mean, in order to be able to do that you'd have to own a pretty decent microscope, and be able to get all the necessary supplies (including a cat or whatever you need to dissect). It sounds pretty complicated.

Also - have you checked to make sure that the program you're applying to will accept online science courses?

Check the distance education forum...there are lots of threads on this subject. Several us here have done AP through Edukan (www.edukan.org) or CCC (www.ccconline.org) and they handle the lab portion in different ways. As the previous poster suggested, always check with your school to make sure they will accept the online courses, but I have yet to hear of anyone here who had trouble with that.

There is no designation on your transcript that your class was taken online. It's worth the same as any other class and no way to tell whether you took it online or in the classroom.

On my transcript next to the title of the course there is a [C] for computer. Meaning that it was an online class and meets the computer literacy requirement's. As for A&P online I think that it would be very difficult, if there is an actually online class you may have to come in to the lab anyways. When I took chemistry online I still had to come in for at least 3 hours a week to complete the lab and take the weekly quiz.

With as involved as A&P is and how much time the class takes it might be better to take it in a regular class setting, so the instructors are there and able to answer questions when you have them. It has been my experience that with online instructors they do not provide as much support and instruction as you would in a typical class room

Okay, I was judging by own school. (I guess I shouldn't do that.) However, I DID take A&P 1 and 2 and Microbiology INCLUDING labs completely online. I just needed to show up physically for midterm and finals, but you can make arrangements if you are not local. I got A's in all of them. I do believe it is not for everyone. They have a much higher drop rate than traditional classes. But there is absolutely no designation on my transcript that these classes were taken online or otherwise.

I'm confused about the on-line lab thing too. Dissection (cats, sheep hearts, kidneys, cow eyeballs) was a major part of the class. It was also very helpful to have hands on anatomical models that could be taken apart and examined. I'm not sure I'd get that much out of a "2D" anatomy class.

On the other hand, every other class that I could take on-line (English, humanities, history, etc...), I did. Loved it.
