Hi there..
I am taking a few online :typing courses this summer (for the first time) and I was wondering how the testing goes. I mean it is open book, :uhoh21: so how are you graded ? Are the tests timed or something ? How do you guys prepare ? It seems like it would be easy to get a decent grade online, right ? :yeah:What is the catch ? Thanks loads !

lol...no it's not easy to get good grades online. First off, most of the time they are either timed so if you looked every question up it would take too long or it's the type of question where you can't really look it up. Open book tests are almost ALWAYS harder than closed book tests. Also, some of ours are proctored so you have to find someone at a CC or library to proctor the test for you.

No, I would not say they are easier. I have actually heard people say they are harder. I guess it just depends if you are a good independent learner. You have to budget your own time.
I have taken online classes where certain tests are completely online and others that you have to go on campus to take your test on a laptop at school so the instructor can be sure no notes are being used. The ones that are online at home are usually always timed so you have to know your stuff. You basically have to study just as you would for a test you would have in class. It would just help to have very organized notes so if you do have time left and you have a few questions that you are not sure of that you quickly can locate them in your notes or textbook. You usually find out immediately what your grade is on the test online unless it has essay questions. The instructor would have to take time to grade that test personally so it would not happen right away.
