online chemistry??

Published

anyone ever taking a chemistry online corse? I'm currently at J Sarg Reynolds and took chem 1 and failed it but I can't go any further in my nursing pre req. until I pass this high school chemistry. I would like to know if this is going to be as tough as the first time I took it.

Thanks

I never had HS chemistry and I took it online. I thought surely I would fail, but somehow I managed a B. I think there was some creative grading going on in that class. With anything, you have to really buckle down and give it as much attention as you can. Make sure you don't overdo it with concurrently taking other hard classes.

You can take chemistry online without a lab?

You can take chemistry online without a lab?

there are schools that offer two types of chemistry online:

1) online, inclass lab

2) all online including lab.

The only school I know of that has EVERYTHING online that is an accreditied college and will transfer is Oregon State university:

General Chemistry - 121, 122, 123

These are survey chemistry courses that can satisfy prerequisites in many degree programs. All components of the course, including the labs, are completed online. For a preview of the sequence, view our

featuring instructor Richard Nafshun.

General Chemistry - 231, 232, 233

This higher-level chemistry course sequence focus on general chemistry concepts and are structured toward students majoring in most sciences, pharmacy, and chemical, biological and environmental engineering. CH 231, 232 and 233 are the lecture portions of this general chemistry sequence and are available completely online. CH 261, 262 and 263 are the corresponding lab components of the sequence and are hybrid online/on-site courses that require hands-on, on-campus lab experience available in an intensive weekend delivery format. Visit the General Chemistry Labs page for info on completing CH 261, 262 and 263, the lab components of this sequence. The sequence along with the labs satisfies OSU's undergraduate bacc core requirements.

Organic Chemistry - 331, 332, 337

These courses constitute the sequence for pre-professional students (medicine, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy and other health professions), chemical engineering students and students not majoring in chemistry who require a year of organic chemistry. Visit the Organic Chemistry Curriculum page for options for completing CH 337, the lab component of this sequence.

My chemistry course (as well as A&P I and II) were online through Florida State College at Jacksonville. They were all 4 credit hour courses (3 for standard course and 1 for the lab). The platform was similar to those used in MyMathLab, but I don't recall what it was actually called. You did your homework and lab assignments in one place and we used Blackboard for testing.

I haven't had any problem with my credits transferring...start NS In August.

Good Luck to you!

I see where you took a & p online...can you please tell me how it was and how hard it was......i took alg online and had mymathlab too....and blackboard for test.....it was doable....i spent ALOT of time on math...cause i hate math and no good at it.....i started a&p this summer but withdrew cause i didnt have the time to study...husband is running for a state office position and needed to help with campaigning.....when i withdrew i had gotten an 88 on the bones test.....so i wasnt failin...

please...any info would be great....

thanks~~

momtojosh, it wasn't bad at all. I got a B in both. I even missed one of my labs. If I had turned it in, I would have gotten an A in one of them. The main thing is studying. I knew pretty much nothing about anatomy (other than what you learn as a mom). I hate math too. I have tried to take Algebra online and it didn't work out very well. I think as long as you study, you should be fine. I took my book everywhere...dr's appt, trips when others were driving, etc. I work and have 3 kids, so I'm a little pressed for time as well.

Good luck.
