Hi everyone,

I've almost completed my cna school, still have a 10 hr intership to do and cpr class do finish.Mostly what is holding me up is money.I wasnt prepared to have the amount of money it has cost to go into my new field.Cpr class was cancelled yesterday because thier wasnt the right amount of people.(Hurry up Income taxes!).All in all ,4 weeks went by really fast,I passed my clinicals and did pretty well on my written tests, now to get the real test done.I think our instructor did a pretty good job of preparing us for the real thing ,she told us often "now on the job" you will encounter this and that. She didnt gloss over things that might happen and I really apprerciate that fact,as I have been there and not been prepared for the lack of training.I contuine to study, I made 2 pillows tied together with a belt, with my watch on him for a arm band all my materials on my dresser and use my bedside talbe for his bedside table to practice practice.I dont want to take this test twice.

I was threatned by a student on the bus and decided to let go of the bus driving job.I will look to be a patient aide or something in health care until i get all my other things completed.i'm excited and looking foward to getting to work. Thanks

Afternoon, Racegirl:

Wow - sounds like you got out of bus driving just in time! And, congrats on the CNA class - sounds like you've got it all dialled-in.

As for me - I wrote a long-winded post on another thread; finally got my CNA certification as of yesterday. Had to lay off Allnurses for awhile 'cause this class was pretty intense. I ended up getting a GI Joe doll to use for bed bath/peri/bedmaking practice (no relatives to use locally) & had a basin/emesis basin for mouthcare, plus a bag of protective gear from the hospice I volunteer at (gown/mask/gloves/booties) to practice putting on/taking off protective gear. So...all done, and now to go find a job!

Best of luck to you - it can be done!

Take care,

Dave

Hi Dave

Congratulations on passing your test! And thanks for the laugh I got after reading your post.I tooK pans out of the kitchen to make an emsiss basin, basin and bedpan ,used an old toothbrush and rugs for my protector,we are pretty ingenoius arent we?I have final exam tomorrow so will study to day.I'm thrilled to be off the bus,I miss some of my kids but feel like a 100 pd weight has been lifted,I got my unemployment ,which Fla is a right to work state so I guess I worded the reason I quit right.Dont know just glad I'm getting it,it will afford me to take the time to get everything taken care of .Your state must be diff as to the testing ,in school, I never saw a gown or mask, and we dont have to do weight or bp.The hardest thig i have with it is remebering the order but i try to go thur the actions just like if i was going to do it to someone here.I didnt have very much help ,daughter was very resint to being a patient.Oh well!I still have alot of things to take care of and getting the money to take the test ,first aid class and etc ,need shoes and some more scrubs and a stethescope.I found a book i want to buy also ,to cram with. But im taking it slow ,i dont want to have to go back and retake the test.Written part seems pretty easy.OK,well have a wonderful job search ,I know you'll go to work soon. Thanks tracegirl
