He means what he says - there are programs for people with non-nursing bachelors to earn a generalist MSN, which preps students for the NCLEX-RN. It ends up being the same as an ABSN, except that the student gets to wear a bigger hood in academic garb after graduating. In Chicago both DePaul and Rush have such programs, I'm not sure who all else does.
I'm enrolled in an direct entry MSN. We spend our first year on general nursing, take the NCLEX, then spend the 2nd year working towards APRN as a nurse practitioner. We all have bachelors' degrees in another field, and are doing this as a 2nd (or even 3rd) career. Hope this info helps clarify things.
