On-Line RN-BSN Programs: Which would u chose?

Published

I want to finish my degree, but there are SO many on-line programs out there, that I get overwhelmed trying to figure out which is the best one. So far, I have looked into:

-Kaplan University

-Chamberlain

-University of Phoenix

Has anyone enrolled in any of the above? Which would u recommend?

Is there a better (more cost-effective, less pre-req's required, quicker program, ease, etc) that u would recommend?

Would I be better off going to an on-campus program? (Benedictine University has a program with College of Dupage that offers a BSN completion at state price).

Not sure of which way to go!!! Ugh

Thanks a bunch!

Oh trust me, I felt your pain. :D I'm attaching my RN-BSN spreadsheet PDF -- these are all the programs I researched. I ended up going with Chamberlain, but was seriously considering U of Wisconsin-Green Bay's RN-BSN -- it was a close second!

Good luck!!

Wow, thank u SO much for the spread sheet! U surely did ur research! What made u decide on Chamberlain, compared to all the others? I went on their website and it looks like a great program... but it is much more expensive than the other programs.

I can't believe the differences in prices... University of Wyoming is only $134/cr hr? Wow. Makes u wonder how the quality of the education is. The price is definitely right for me, though!

Have u started Chamberlain yet? What can u tell me about it? How is it going so far?

None of the above...reason: COST

Most states have regular universities that have online RN to BSN programs that are 100% online or meet as little as one evening a week...only to turn in assignments and have a short-group discussion, question/answer, etc.

Don't be quick to choose based on LOW cost...that is a typical in-state tuition fee.

Unfortunately that wasn't an option for me -- we're going to be moving out of state before I finish my BSN. I needed a little more flexibility with regards to residency. State schools are fabulous if you're staying put, though!

And by the way, at least one of those "none of the above" is one of my state universities, so its tuition would be low for Virginia residents. As I said, this was a spreadsheet I did for my personal research and needs. YMMV.

National University offers an Online RN-BSN program. It's accredited by the board of nursing. It's based in California but again, they offer the online program. It's a lot cheaper than university of phoenix. I actually called them today to get more information. It's worth the look. Good luck.
