Ok, I am about to go insane. I can't figure out what to go to school. I have my RN and want to get my BSN. I have looked into local schools outside Philly but really want to do on-line, at least for the most part. Schedule is crazy and I think it would work best for me. I have taken on-line courses at local community college and liked it. Ok, well I went to the distance learning forum here and read about some places all in different states (so more$$). I sent away for information but for some reason and a bit nervous about them Excelsior and university of Phoenix. Most of the local schools cost a lot of money and not sure I can afford it. Others I have no heard anything about and am a bit leery of the education I would be receiving. Anyone in PA done a RN-BSN program they really liked and would recommend. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Pixiel,
I have taken classes through UOP. Not for nursing but all the programs with UOP are run the same way. Their classes are intense study meaning each course is completed over 5 or 6 weeks rather than the traditional 12 week semester. All the instructors I had were very helpful and the courses are carefully laid out with student expectations clearly defined. All of the classes I took I enjoyed with the exception of one so I was glad the class was over in 6 weeks. UOP has an actual campus somewhere in the Phila area but you will have to check with them for the exact location if you are interested in taking any of your classes in the classroom.
The other online program I know about is Deaconess College of Nursing in St. Louis MO. I am currently in their RN program. All my classes are online except my clinical rotations which will be at a local hospital. (begins in Jan) I don't have firsthand information about their RN to BSN but if you contact the college, they will help you.
Hope this helps,
C

Hahnneman University has an on line RN-BSN. If accepted and you pass they will automatically accept you for their Masters program.
THANKS
Hahnemann was the one I was all set to go to, it is now run by Drexel. So it is not cheap. i have heard good things about it but just wondering if there were other options thanks. I am still looking into others!!!!!!

Try the University of Wyoming. They have a totally online rn-bsn program, and the clinicals are arranged at your locality so you never have to go to Wyoming. You just have to have your prerequisites done, and you can do that locally and transfer the credits to UW. They do NOT charge out of state tuition for online programs, though the do charge a "technology fee" but it is quite reasonable, and the total cost is quite a lot less than the others. They call this an outreach program.
THANKS!!!!
