I work for a large Hospice and we have to do oncall once every three months. It's a day shift either sat or sun.

I work for a small hospital based agency and we have call 4-5 times a month after normal business hours through the night, except if it's a w/e, then of course, it for 24 hrs.

Ours is a freestanding Medicare home health agency, census of about 350-400 at any given time. The nurses in the office take call which generally amounts to answering the phone and staffing on a sign-up basis. If everyone signs up, it generally works out to once every 2 months. I like taking call, so I volunteer to take someone else's call and generally do it at least once a month. We have a volunteer system for weekend staffing so the oncall nurse rarely has to actually make a visit, although it does happen.

Usually one full weekend a month. Fri night on-call(5pm-8:30am) and either working a regular day on sat & sun or on-call for 24hrs or a combination of both. We have a weeknight M-TH on-call nurse and 2-3 nurses who work weekends. This is much better than it used to be. It used to be much more often
