I am moving back to bremerton and hoping to get in the RN program. There are 14 possible points on the application, i believe. does anyone know about how many is a safe number to apply with? I heard a lot of people have all 14 points on the application and a lot of people have a 4.0 GPA. if thats the case i might be better off applying somewhere else. Any information is greatly appreciated.

OC is very competitive and from what I remember from the info session, 13-14 is what you need to stand a chance.

You've got to go to the Olympic college website and read the ADN section. The maximum points you can get is 13 not 14. And that is only if you take all of the pre reqs Chem 121, Chem 131, A&P 241, A&P 242, Micro 260, and Eng 101 and get a 3.8 cumulative GPA in all of these classes except Micro 270 which counts towards your point accrual and is considered a support class for application purposes.
If you do all that and apply and get rejected they will give you a "Roll over Point" the next year when you apply for the second time. That is the only way to get the 13 points needed to enter the program.
I say 3.8 minimum GPA because no one got in last year with less than 3.8 GPA. The college actually anticipates the minimum GPA to be even higher this year. It depends on the number of candidates and the average GPA among them but the numbers are candidates are going up not down.
If you and another candidate both have a perfect GPA in in all pre reqs the college uses tie breakers: Number of support classes, cumulative GPA in support classes, and then finally cumulative in all college coursework taken in the last 5 years.
OC admits students into the ADN program once per year with applications due by then end of March for the following fall quarter. 75 students are admitted annually.
My best advice is don't put your eggs in one basket. Fulfill the requirements of as many colleges as possible and be prepared to apply to many.
The other thing I've noticed is a lot of people are counting on getting into TCC via their new lottery process. Remember that approximately 600 students are vying for 25 slots with TCC.
I'm at OC right now almost done with Chem 121 and getting ready to knock out Chem 131 Winter quarter. I'm just putting one foot in front of the other....
