OLOL Baton Rouge

Published

Hi. I just joined this site last night and would like to know if anyone reading this is attending the OLOL RN program in Baton Rouge? I am 23 and will be applying to finish my prerequisites there as of this summer or fall. I would very much appreciate any info or advice you could give me concerning the school. Thank you.

Sorry I can't help with your question, but I'm sure someone will come along and give you the information you requested. :)

Hi. I have not attended OLOL. I have done some research on it though. Because of my unique situation, I thought it would be a good fit.

Most of the info I got was on the 10-month accelerated ADN program in New Orleans. They accepted students with a previous Bachelor's degree. In return for a 2-year Med-surg commitment they offer you full tuiton and a ($400-500) monthly stipend.

Don't know much about the program at Baton Rouge. I have looked at taking a few of the upper level Biology classes at OLOL after I am done with my nursing degree.

Hello, I am currently attending OLOL BR Nursing. I'm in my first semester. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have concerning the program.

Hi Magnus and thanks. Well, first I would like to know if you can tell me if there are any classes other than the foundation courses that I am required to take before applying to the nursing program. So far, I still have to take Algebra, A&P, Chemistry, and Academic Seminar. I have taken the others (Psychology,Comp I & II) and several more that are not required, as far as I know. I think that is all it said was required. Am I right about that or are there more requirements that I overlooked? Thank you so much for your willingness to help. Do you like it so far?

HI, I just got in for the Fall class and can answer some of your questions. Send me a PM. It's pretty competetive to get in right now, they get about 400 apps each semester for the 100 slots. Generally you won't get in unless all your pre- and co- requ.s are done. This is only their 2nd year using a new "wholistic" acceptance process, they don't use points or GPA, which makes the process very opaque in my opinion. But I am THRILLED that I got in and can't wait to get to work!

hi meredith and congratulations on your acceptance!!!!:balloons: :Melody:

can you explain this "holistic" selection process? i'm at LSUE waiting to hear if i made it into clinicals but the cutoff GPA is usually so high that i'm already looking into a Plan B, lol. I'll have at least a 3.2 and I already have a bachelor's degree. i went on the OLOL website and looked at the transfer equivalency chart and i think i have just about all of the prereq's. if you had to guess, what do you think my chances would be of getting in?
