older students returning to college

Is there anyone who has earned an accelerated bachelor's in a different discipline that decided to apply for ns and got accepted? I'm in my 30's and currently in a BS for Behavioral Science and Ethics program, and I'm starting to think I really would like to go into nursing. I'm wondering what is available and what to expect in order to be accepted to various nursing programs.

Also, does anyone have any info about Seminole State?

I have many friends attending seminole state. I recieved my associates in another field from there. What would you like to know?

Thanks! I'm curious about how competitve it is to get accepted into their progam; what is their ratio of applicants to spots to be filled. I'm also wondering if they have a high rate of graduates pass the NCLEX?

My friend earned a BS in public health in 2001, but her degree wasn't worth much earning power in the job market.

She became an LPN in 2005, and is now enrolled in an RN program in OKC.

Sorry it took so long to get back with you. I've been preparing for finals this week.

anyway, like most ADN programs Seminoles is fairly competitive. The past rate has historically been in the 90-95% pass range. I enjoyed my experience at Seminole State but like I said I didnt attend the nursing program there. I chose to get an associates and transfer to a BSN program down the road.

The class sizes are generally around 15-20 students.

I do know that the program is tough. I dont know how many times I saw students break down in tears because they had failed a test and was on the brink of getting kicked out of the program.

Also I forgot to add that the ratio of applicants to seats available is around 3:1 but the pool is narrowed substantially because they get tons of incomplete applications and applications from those that don't qualify. So don't let the number of applicants stop you from applying if you qualify.

Thanks so much for your reply. I actually got a chance to meet with the division chair and got quite a bit of info. Her suggestion was to take the ACT (my last scores are 14 years old!) AND the NET so if I don't do well on one I can fall back on the other. Any suggestions on which to do first?
