old pre-req grades for CRNA program

I got a C in Chemistry 10 years ago. By the time I'd be able to apply to a CRNA school it will be a grade that is about 15 years old. I know that most of the CRNA Programs want to use pre-req grades that are no older than 5 years for admittance but will they even look at my grades from so far back and count it against me? I'm an A student these days. Thanks!

Guess you would have to take them again. LOL.

It's very school dependent. My A&P, Micro, Pharm etc, was taken in my diploma program more than 10 years ago. I got into nursing school with high school Chem and have not taken it since. Most of the school I spoke with only had the 5 year requirement for stats which I had since I only went back for my BSN a few years ago. Even with science courses over 10 years old, I was accepted to all 3 of the CRNA programs I applied to. When I asked the schools if I should retake, they all said that they will teach me what I need to know.

It would not hurt to retake the classes and get a refresher anyway, but it depends on your situation and what the expectations of your prospect schools are. I did not apply to any of the schools that required O.chem because I was not interested in spending another year doing undergrad science courses when I did not have to. Just my .02 cents.

do most school require the GRE? I'd imagine it would be harder to take the GRE with such a long amount of time between those classes and the GRE.

Most schools do require a GRE, only a few do not. A few will let get in without the GRE if have a gpa >3.5.

Yes, the majority of CRNA schools require the GRE. However, retaking chem or other courses will not really help you with the GRE. A good GRE prep guide such as Kaplan's and plenty of review is usually enough to get a decent score on the GRE exam.

I agree with TraumaNurse re: GRE prep. The math, vocab, and essay writing are clearly covered in the Kaplan book. I am taking an online Intro. organic chem and biochem which even includes a lab (they send a lab CD with your books). The class is wonderful and fits into my full time work schedule. Well, that seems a bit unreasonable. Especially if the program also favors more ICU experience than the one year minimum.

Nothing in life is fair, especially getting into a professional school like CRNA.
