Are you thinking of returning to school to obtain a BSN Degree or MSN online? If yes, please do your homework before you attend ANY online University.
I graduated from Oklahoma Wesleyan University in December, 2014, with a BSN degree in nursing. My overall experience with the University was POOR. 2 semester's before graduating, my academic advisor called to inform me that I was short 5 classes. Immediately, I pulled up my contract and found no such information or classes that were to be taken. Come to find out, the University had changed the BSN program entirely and tried to implement the new courses for ALL students. Our entire cohort was outraged and called the Dean of Nursing, Dean of online education to voice our concerns. We signed petitions, and wrote letters to the University. Fortunately, the Dean waived the 5 classes for ALL students that were enrolled in the current online program. However, my nightmare was only beginning.
I graduated on December, 2014 with a 3.6 GPA. Currently, I have been working on applying to several Acute Care-Adult/Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), programs. I am once again frustrated at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Nearly every University requires BSN level Statistics and Physical Assessment classes (B or better) to apply for NP programs, of which I don't have. My current situation will delay my application for nearly 1 year. For these reasons, I do NOT recommend Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
