Oklahoma NCLEX Application for a Filipino Registered Nurse

Published

Good day to all!

I know this question has been repeatedly posted, however I have little to no information and/or updates regarding this certain state where I want to apply for my NCLEX and I was hoping I could gain insight from the members here, as well as share my story.

First off, presently, I want to apply, reside and work in Oklahoma. I got my BSN degree in April 2013 in the Philippines and immediately afterwards, without taking the NLE, I came to the US and applied to take the NCLEX in California. I ran into the same CaBON issue of needing to take an additional course due to concurrency issues. Financially, I had a bit of trouble with taking that option, so I decided to return to the Philippines in January 2014, and I took and passed the NLE examination, making me a registered nurse in the Philippines.

Upon returning to the US, I became interested in re-applying for the NCLEX, but this time, for Oklahoma. I do not know many Filipino nurses who have applied in Oklahoma, (despite my best efforts to research) and I was wondering if any Filipino educated nurses have tried to apply for licensure there?

I saw a link that said Oklahoma was one of the states that had concurrency issues, however, I have not read any statements from applicants who have tried personally. (Plus, the thread I read was a year old).

So, with that, I would like to ask:

Are there any Filipino educated nurses here who have personally applied for licensure in Oklahoma?

Does Oklahoma also direct these applicants to take a course for concurrency issues after application?

I graduated in 2013 from a University that just updated their curriculum to avoid these issues, but I would still like to know if, even with recent graduates, do they still have these issues?

I am not in any way bashing or trying to look for the easy way to get a license, but I am honestly simply interested in knowing of other's experiences. Thank you all for reading and I would be happy to read your comments and insights.

You must be a US citizen to apply. They do have exceptions described in the link below.

If you are a legal US resident you must apply in person with your proper documentation.
