Oklahoma City University Fall 2015

Published

Hello Everyone! I was wondering if anyone out there will be attending Oklahoma City University in the fall 0f 2015 for the accelerated BSN program? I'm in the middle of admissions and haven't found out if I got in yet but would like to know who is attending? I would be moving from San Diego, CA. It would be nice to get to know some of you. I'd like to know where all of you are from and how your admissions process went?

Hi @coco_ABSN! I just stumbled on this thread and wanted to ask you about the ABSN program at OCU since you're in it! I might be attending OCU this fall for the ABSN program and I was just wondering if the scholarships that they give out would still be given during the summer semester of the ABSN program? I saw online that it did not apply to summer courses but I wasn't sure if this was a different case..

Thanks!

I take that back! We just found where it says that on the site! I am currently emailing my advisor and will let you know what they say.

@coco_ABSN -- I actually emailed the financial aid advisor and was told that as long as you are a full-time student over the summer, scholarships still applies! thank you :) also, do you mind telling me what you think of the ABSN program so far?

Good I am glad you got that answered I got so busy I completely forgot to answer! (If that gives you any indication of what you are in for LOL) I like it and I learn so much! I have a prior degree in the sciences and I will tell you....Nursing school is unlike anything you have ever experienced! Get ready to work hard and yes...you can maintain a job while you are here but I dont recommend it unless you are either super studious OR have a job that is EXTREMELY lenient with your schedule so you do not have to work the week prior to tests. Get ready to read your textbook (A LOT) and talk to upper class men. They have been through what you have been through so they know the deal. Pick up study habits from them. You only get a week and a half between the Spring semester and the Summer semester (GASP! LOL). In addition the semester is 11 weeks long. YES accelerated sucks...but YES you can do it! Oh! This summer I recommend purchasing the Ogden-Calculation of Drug Dosages text and do the first 5 chapters this summer. Lots of people have problems with math so don't let math lower your grade put in that work before school starts. Orientation will make you feel overwhelmed...dont worry about it we all felt that way. Nursing school is a mind game so best advice is play the game and be nice. Everything will work out! One more thing...get the older version of the text books. Don't waste your money...people swore I needed the newest edition of everything but there isn't that much of a difference. I made straight A's with an old version of all my books. I personally like e-books too because you will see...your nursing books weigh a TON! LOL Sorry so long! Just sharing what I know as I sit here relaxing from an exam. BEST OF LUCK!!!

Hi all. How do you guys get into Accelerated program? Do you need to have AS degree or BS to be eligible?

You do not need to have either you just need to have the prerequisites completed.
