OK to use older versions of fluids/electrolytes study guides?

Hi, all. I start my nursing classes in the fall and want to get a headstart on some fundamentals over the summer. I have read recent posts that said fluids/electrolytes would be a good thing to try to get a grasp on. I was thinking of ordering the "Fluids and Electrrolytes Made Incredibly Easy" book, but was wondering if I would be safe to order the 4th edition, not the newest 5th edition (much cheaper). The basic information should still be the same, correct?

I think the basic information would be the same. I say get the older version. I have that book and it is good for learning the concepts. When books have a new edition, usually they change minor details or pictures, however, the core ideas don't change.

I just ordered this book after I saw your post! I love amazon- I always use swagbucks and turn in my points for $5 amazon gift cards. When they add up it's a great thing to use them on. I just applied for nursing school and think I MAY have a good chance of getting in. I have been putting together a review folder and also reviewing a&p, medical terminology, and things like that. It's nice to have all of my texts on hand to do this.

So far I have a med dosage calculations book & I am adding this one! I think I may become addicted to these reference books. Thanks again! :-) Good Luck!!

I agree, I love these reference books, too. It can only help to know some of these basic fundamentals ahead of time. I'm looking at others as well. Plus, since I'm currently not working, what else am I going to do with myself while I anxiously await the fall semester to start? :lol2:

I ALWAYS order the older edition in my textbooks. I have never had a problem with it. I purchased all of my books for my NP program for $85. All of my other friends? $900 +. Newest editions are not worth it!

I too love the "made incredibly easy" books. I have started a collections, most brought used from amazon.com

i figured that they really would not change that much each new edition.
