Hello,

I was reading all of your post and want to commend all of you for making that step to enter a wonderful profession. I understand the new feelings that you have all shared. I am a senior in a 4-year BSN program and am about to start my final semester. I graduate in May 2008 and will take the NCLEX soon after. I am also married with 2 children - 11 and 2 years old, both boys. I also work as a student nurse extern in an ER. It has been very difficult to try to juggle so many responsibilities without feeling like you are neglected one of them. It was also hard to leave my independent woman role behind and depend on my husband. I understand how you feel. Nonetheless, it has been an amazing journey and I have learned what it feels to truly be a nurse. Believe me, one day during your journey, you not only know what a blood pressure is, but what each number means regarding your patient. You will understand the whys and hows. You will also realize that you are know critically thinking like a nurse when you begin to study your courses with questions on why you have to perform a procedure. You have to transition from mere memorization to critical thinking and application of that knowledge. It is important that you find a steady study group as you start and finish your studies. They can either make or break you. Unfortunately, not all of your classmates will finish. I have experience that loss with every semester. However, there is a brilliant light at the end of the tunnel. It will go by very fast. I extend to all you the best of luck and an invitation to ask any questions that you may have along the way. Congratulations and welcome to a new start to a wonderful career.:balloons:
