I wanted to start a thread for those who are starting to apply to the local Portland nursing schools for 2009. Maybe state what school(s) you will be applying to and where you are in your process. I'm applying at OHSU OCNE and PCC. No need to state GPA or points or anything. I just mailed off my app to OHSU the other day, but still need to do my proctored essay. I sent the school the information for my proctor but have not heard anything yet. PCC will have apps available in December, so now I'm waiting for that. Good luck to everyone!
yep, orientation on 23rd. I think it is for all 80 of us. My friend who sat next to me in A&P got in for fall quarter.
I was hoping for fall...wondering what they were going to do with those that declined and got fall acceptance. Wishing I could start in fall and alternate would get winter instead of me.
But, I have a seat and thats all that really matters.
I applied only for Portland. I'm on the alternate list too. I called and asked about my ranking, my proctored essay score, how many ppl are on the waitlist, how many accepted, etc. And was repeatedly told the same thing. Basically, they are still in the admissions process and are unable to reveal any info. I was told to call back in July. They accept ppl off the alternate list up until the first week of classes I think. Yikes!Anyway, congrats on making the alternate list!~
And of course on getting in
I am on the alternate list too and I called for more info and they couldn't give me any. They said that they had to wait until after June 15th (when all alternate list reservations have to be mailed in) to make the actual list because they do not know how many people want to be on it(from the people they invited). So if you call back in late June they should be able to give a rough estimate of how many people are on it and if you are in the first half or last half of the list. I am looking forward to that because so hard to plan for fall without any idea if I actually even...have a chance. As far as finding out how you did on your essay my friend who already went to OHSU said that (later on) you can set up a time to meet with someone from admissions to discuss your application so that if you didn't get in you know how to improve for next time.
OK thanks. I'll call back after my midterms and finals then.
It is super hard to make plans for the Fall, esp if we get accepted last minute. I think OHSU finishes their admissions process a few months later than many other schools, or it seems like they just take longer.
Just wondering if you or anyone else would know...I've heard of ppl from the ABSN program switching to the traditional 3 year program. I know that sounds logistically possible. But is it possible to switch from the 3 year to the accelerated program? Would you have to swap with someone, or...?
Anyone gotten accepted from the waitlist yet? Or know anyone who has?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Opasa---did you call and find anything out? I called them twice, and they keep telling me the same thing. Didnt get ANY info from them. Not very nice. I couldnt find out how many ppl are on the list, and where I lie on it.....hm, I wonder if I have any chance at all.
I am also applying to the OHSU ocne program for next fall! I am actually wondering if anyone has, or knows someone who has taken the proctored essay last year or before and has any advice? I am very curious about what the question will be...I have a few ideas that my advisor has given me, but he said it would be best to ask a past applicant what they had to write on. So if anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it!!!!
