Did anyone else receive an acceptance letter from OHSU today? My wife and I were both accepted to University of Portland in March, and she just received her OHSU acceptance letter today (I didn't apply there unfortunately).

Congrats on your starting nursing school! I applied for the new grad program at OHSU and am still waiting to hear something. Getting nervous about finding a job since I graduate in less than a month.
Good luck with school!

I got my acceptance letter today as well! I'm so excited, happy, relieved... I applied to all four BSN programs in Portland and got rejected from Walla Walla and I haven't heard from UofP so I'm assuming that I got rejected from there as well. I thought for sure that I wasn't going to get in anywhere and I was going to have to sit around and waste a whole year waiting to apply again. I still can't believe that I'm actually going to be going to OHSU Portland campus because it was my first choice. All of my hard work paid off!!!

I had a mix-up regarding financial aid with U of Portland which required me to call their admissions office and be sure my acceptance letter wasn't lost in the mail. They informed me that all acceptance letters had been mailed 2 weeks ago (3 weeks now) and they were compiling a wait list. They were hoping to send the wait list and decline letters out by the start of this week (apr.4).
I received a rejection from OHSU today and to say the least I am quite dissapointed as I have now been rejected from 2 of 4 universitys I applied to and I doubt I will get in to Linfield or Seattle U since I didn't get in to the other two. May I inquire as to what kinds of experience and GPA those of you who were accepted to OHSU and UofP had? If you would prefer not to say, I understand. I'm just trying to figure out what it's going to take for me to get in!

I currently have between a 3.5 and 3.6 which is why I think I didn't get accepted to UofP And Walla Walla because they strictly choose applicants based on their GPA. I've heard that OHSU looks for a more well-rounded applicant with not necissarily medical experience but some life experience. I am 29 and I'm a single mother of two putting myself through school. I don't know if that helped but it probably showed that I have determination and that I can handle stressfull situations. I've also put in over 100 hours of volunteer time in the OHSU ER and I'm sure that helped out to. To be honest, I really didn't think I was going to get into OHSU especially since I'd already been rejected from two other schools. I really think it is because of my life experience and volunteer work because I know that there a lot of people with a much higher GPA than I have. I hope that this helps and good luck.

I just got my acceptance letter from OHSU on Saturday as well! I have a 3.8 GPA and work as a CNA. I didn't realize there were so many of us on here. Does anyone know how many BSN students they accepted and how many applied? I'm curious to know the GPA cut off - I have a friend who had a 3.56 and didn't get in...
I'm not sure what the GPA cutoff is but I think that they look at more than just GPA which is nice because mine wasn't the highest. I'm not sure what all they look at when they determine who they're going to accept and reject and I think that most people would pay good money to find out.
I was just looking at the OHSU website to see what the parking situation is like for students. It looks like we have the option to either ride TriMet or pay a small fee each term to carpool. I live in Tigard, right off of I5, and would love to find someone who either lives in the area or passes by that would want to carpool. I have two kids that go to school in Tigard and I just don't see how I would be able to ride the bus.
Looking forward to meeting everyone that got accepted at the orientation in the beginning of summer. Congratulations once again!
First off, congratulations to futureRN07 on your acceptance to OHSU! Also, I thought I'd give my GPA and academic background.
I graduated from George Fox University in May 2004 with a B.S. in Computer Science. My GPA was 3.6, and I had around 150 semester credits (225 term/quarter credits). I only applied to University of Portland and was accepted there. My wife had a bachelor's degree from George Fox as well, with a major in Spanish. Her graduating GPA was around 3.3, and she was accepted to all three schools she applied to (Clark, University of Portland, and OHSU). Our GPAs aren't the greatest; however, if you separate our nursing pre-requisite courses our GPAs are around 3.9 and 3.6 respectively. After talking with my advisor at George Fox, he indicated nearly every student applying to OHSU or any other Oregon BSN program was accepted if they had a GPA exceeding 3.2. I think the school you are transferring from my be a heavy factor in the admission committees decision.
I'm finding this all quite interesting... It seems there is no consistent standard for the nursing schools. I had a 3.3 and am currently a Junior at Oregon State with an internship at OHSU last summer, as well as some volunteer time. From what's been posted it sounds like they take anyone between a 3.3 and a 3.8 so I am really curious as to what the standard they used is. Perhaps they accept the lower GPA's because you already have a B.S.? I do think the nursing pre-req GPA is probably a big factor. I would love to corner one of the admissions people and find out what exactly it is that they want because I am quite perplexed at this point.
I don't have a BS or any prior degree. I just have my GPA and my work experience as a CNA...
I know they're big on diversity as well, but seeing as I'm a white female I don't think I fit under that category...
I wonder how many applied...?

Don't despair, I got accepted at U of P but I called them to decline, so there's one more spot available for somebody else! My GPA is 3.83 cumulative and I just have a little bit of volunteer experience at a hospital. All my prereqs were at 4.0 though. I'm older (39) and have a prior degree in HR Management but I've been a stay-at-home mom for the past 14 years. You'll get in somewhere - keep positive thoughts.
