I didn't see a thread.....although it is quite early yet for some to be thinking about the upcoming application session. I am a senior at Marylhurst/PCC, will be graduating Spring 2013 and applying to OHSU, Duke, and John Hopkins this Fall.
Anyone current students that have advice? Anyone who just applied have any tips for the application? Anyone else applying?
Good Luck to those taking Summer courses!
Thank you mamakac!I'm still waiting for the FB acceptance, so for those who are in the summer cohort:
Do any of you know what time the June 14th orientation starts? I haven't received my acceptance packet yet. I'm trying to plan out my flight. Thanks for any help! :)
There is no time in the package I received - probably plan for all day. Looking forward to meeting you.
Hello! Congrats to evryone! I hope you could answer a quick question for me. Since this is for the ABSN program, I was wondering if anyone is a CC transitioning student? Or is everyone just have a previous degree other than nursing? I'm waitlisted to both OHSU and a few CCs this year. Just need to know if I ever have to choose between the two. Your reply would be very much appreciated!
Might want to make sure its the right FB group, our admin is usually pretty quick at approving (OHSU School of Nursing ABSN 2013)
And yes for Summer cohort orientation is June 14th, and classes begin June 24th. Here is a link to the academic calendar for OHSU 2013-2014: OHSU Registrar - 2013-2014 Academic Calendar

The ASBN program requires a previous degree, and all but two in my traditional BSN program have previous bachelor degrees in things other than nursing too but it is not required. The transitional program is for students who went to a OCNE CC and are licensed as an RN, its online. If you go to an OCNE CC (Mt. hood, PCC, Clackamas, Lane, and a handful of others) you can apply to the transitional program after graduating and passing the NCLEX. It costs more money but if you are asked to join this years cohort at OHSU I would take it, can I as what campus you applied for? I am in Monmouth :)
Thank you for the info Kvedaa!
I've applied to the Portland campus since I live here. Are you finishing up your BSN program? I would've applied to Monmounth and any other campuses but they only allow us to choose one campus per application year. I did not know that prior to applying but oh well!
@claireclaire I am just starting, I actually live in Portland now and am finishing my B.S. Sociology at PSU but we are moving for my fiances job the week after I graduate so that is why I applied to Monmouth. I have spent 6 years preparing for nursing school so I feel like an expert on every program lol if you have any other questions let me know! There is a thread for 'portland area applicants' there are a lot of answers on there if you havent already checked it out! you can keep up on who has declined positions at schools to so you know where you stand on the waitlist! Best of luck!
