Ohio BON Processing Time

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

Does anyone know what the processing time for licensure from the Ohio BON is? I sent in all paperwork and fees, except for a final transcript, in May. The transcript was mailed July 19. I am already registered with Pearson VUE (since early May), and have just been waiting for ATT. My status has been "pending" on the Ohio BON site for months. The site lists my background check as received, but there is nothing written underneath "Citizenship Verification", "Education Verification", "Foreign Nurse Requirement", or "Pay Pearson VUE". There is no response when I have tried to contact the BON. I have a job offer contingent upon me getting my license before the start date, so I would love to get the test out of the way. Does anyone have an accurate idea of how long I will be waiting?

You need to keep calling best times to call between 8 am and 12pm. I had a simillar issue I even mailed all my paper works later than you did. Apparently it's suppose to take about six to eight weeks for your application to be revived. I kept calling till i finally got a response and i had my stuffs revived over the phone and got approved got my ATT less than 30 mins after. All the best

What number did you call? is it the one that ends with 7675? I also keep on calling but I'm always transferred to voicemail.

Try this number 614 466 3947.

Thanks a lot! will try to call tomorrow

Did you have any success calling the number and getting your ATT? 5 long weeks and still no ATT number!

I never had any luck calling the number. A friend of mine got a response by email and shared that employees email with me. I got prompt replies by emailing that person direct.

Medic24-- Do you mind sharing that with me? I have had difficulty getting ahold of someone and I keep hearing rumors about how long it'll take. I've even heard it could take until OCTOBER! I'm moving to another city in ohio and have difficulty getting an interview bc I have no idea when I'll be able to test. I'm desperate for answers. Thanks

I emailed the general BON email that is listed on their website and received replies. It will not take till October.

I graduated last December and everyone who passed with me had their ATT by February. Multiple factors go into play with the BON.

First did you send your application and payment in before you graduated? I sent mine in November before I graduated. What about your background check? Is that completed?

Second, when did your school send your verification? Schools do not send it out the next day after graduation 99% of the time. I passed December 5th and they sent out the paper work the 20th. So that's an added two weeks of time the school spends checking and double checking to make sure you are 100% compliant. Then the board didn't receive the paperwork right away. Then they have to go through the paperwork and triple check everything.

Unfortunately, the boards receive a lot of applications and there's only a handful of employees. It takes time since they don't want it to pop up they licensed someone they weren't supposed to like those New York nurses who were licensed when they graduated from a fraudulent nursing school.

So find out when the school sent in the paperwork and start counting the length of time from there. There are thousands of nursing graduates in the state of Ohio and everyone has to be verified.

Not to mention the people who are verifying their licensure to either Ohio or the people who want Ohio to verify their license (if the other state doesn't use Nursys).

My paperwork was received may 23 by OBN. Someone at the OBN office mentioned to a classmate of mine that it may take until October worst case scenario because they are running way behind. I hope that would never happen. My paperwork, background check, and everything else was completed in March. I am currently only missing my education verification according to the OBN website.
