I am trying to figure which direction to go- this is a great place I've found to ask all LPN students. I at first decided LPN vocational school. Now I'm thinking Physical Therapy Assistant. Whatever decision, I want to help people. But I keep reading these horror stories- getting stuck, bodily fluids, colostomy bags gone wrong.
Maybe I'm not cut out for this. Students- what is your experience so far?
LPN school starts in Jan. Physical therapy assistant requires AS degree....ugh. I guess I need words of encouragement.

I was extremely nervous about becoming a nurse. I had no health care experience, and I had no clue what to expect. I'm wrapping up my first 6 months of my PN program and all I can say is that I LOVE IT! I have all A's and I'm learning so much. You'll never know unless you try, but in the end it's you decision . Good luck!!

i always wanted to be a nurse, but never really knew what it involved. now that i do, i don't regret my decision. i love it! yes there is some 'gross' stuff, but by my second week i was over it. everyone has their thing, mine is vomit. nursing can be stressful and crazy, but i think the rewards out way it all. there are so many different opportunities so if certain things bother you, move to a different area.
best of wishes in whatever you choose

You can't really avoid body fluids in nursing, and often mishaps will occur. However, there is more variety in nursing (I think) which makes it more interesting to me. Generally speaking, the variety and amount of available jobs is higher for nurses.
The economy right now makes it hard to predict, though.

Perhaps this is too basic, but they both seem to be good directions to go in. If both appeal to you, then there is no easy way to choose. Perhaps, look at which program fits your life better and choose that way?
