It seems like I have been in school FOREVER, but I am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel (grad in May). I also took almost all of my pre-reqs first, which was very smart. Over half of our class is failing Pharm or Intermediate Nursing II (where they hit you with all the NCLEX style questions), and I don't think I could have done it all at once.
Are you getting your ADN or BSN?
Time will pass so quickly. I know it doesn't seem like it now, but once you're in the program, it flies by. Save up on your sleep now...you'll need it!!!
Just wait until you actually see your first baby being born on your Labor & Delivery rotation. I was in the room with this couple (it was their first child) and when the baby came out, they were just crying and saying, "oh my gosh, we're parents now." The grandparent was taking pictures and hugging everyone. All of us in the room were crying. It was uplifting. One of the rare times I remembered why I wanted to be a nurse.
You will find ups and downs along your journey. Some classes will interest you and others will bore you to death. There will be times you will feel tempted to give up. Nursing school has been one of the most demanding and stressful times of my life.
However, I have learned a lot and the time went by quick. Although, it seems to be dragging on right now with only 1 semester left for me.
I wish you luck on your journey.
I'm in my first semester of clinicals now. But I'm in a BSN program so I've already been in school 2yrs part-time. Now I have two years and 1 month left.
If you want to be a CRNA or NP you'll eventually need to get your BSN. The best way I can describe the wait is, "The wait takes forever to get there, but looking back it flew." I hope that makes some sense to you.
Good luck!

Thank you all for your uplifting messages. Oh by the way, here is my plan... I am getting my ADN now(still in the prereq phase) and there are a few area colleges (I am in NC) that have bridge programs, there is one that take you from ADN to MSN, in 3 years. I know that I have a long road ahead of me, but I think it will be much easier now that I have allnurses!
