They actually let me graduate! I'm happy but at the same time now I'm starting to see how really unprepared I am to work as an RN.
Some of you know me and my story but Ill recap.
I have worked as an LPN for a year in postpartum before that I was a CNA in med surge and cardiac, and an EMT - I working in EMS, ER and cardiac.
For the last 3 months I have been a Nurse Intern in L&D. I have been orienting to the RN role. I have a preceptor and we work together I perform RN tasks under her direction. Once I pass my boards ill be working as an RN on L&D.
I fell like my skills are alright I can do vag checks, I'm starting to understand efm, I know how to do the task oriented things but the critical thinking and decision making things are worrying me. There is still so much I don't know about physiology and procedures. I find myself getting to wrapped up in comforting the patient and forgetting to chart.
I really like L&D and want to make sure I provide quality care to my patients.
Any advise?
What are some good books or links for the Physiology of pregnancy and L&D procedures? Any good information on EFM?
Thanks )
