Hey everyone..I currently work in hospital and have been interviewing in OB doctor office. Which is better overall to work in? I know the office mentioned a pay cut from the hospital. Is working in office worth pay cut and why is there a pay cut to begin with? Any thoughts?

It is difficult to say and completely depends on that individual doctors office. Why do you want to make the change? What types of job duties will you be performing in the doctors office? When I graduated, my first priority was to work in a hospital, my second was a nursing home, and my third was a doctors office. I have worked at all three in some capacity and I suffered from the most disrespect at the doctors office in which I worked, but mostly because I was dealing with some HUGE egos. When I took a job at a hospital I was shocked by how kind respectful the doctors treated the nurses because this was not the case in the office. I think that in a hospital or nursing home you practice more independently and are able to better use your nursing skills. But again, it depends on the doctors you are working with. Are they nice? Will they teach you? What types of things will they let you do?

I agree with the above post, in the doctors office you are a slave to that particular doctor and the am way they do things while in a hospital you are more independant.
