offered to shadow after interview

Published

Hello everyone I just got my CNA on April 26th and had my first interview at a pretty big hospital last Friday, May 16th.

I was so nervous and had one group interview with 4 managers of different floors.

At the end of the interview they asked if I would want to come and do a 4 hour shadow with a CNA that already works there to see if I like it.

She said she would call me to set up the time and I honestly don't even know what floor it would be on although i applied for heart/lung/vascular but they're all different floors.

I was sad because I just assumed that was a nice way to reject me from the job. Yet still be nice enough to offer me to shadow.

Is it a bad or a good sign to be offered to shadow? I have another interview next week with another hospital so I'm hoping I get that job.

Specializes in Nurse Leader specializing in Labor & Delivery.

THat's an INCREDIBLY good sign. They would not bother if they weren't interested. Trust me, managers have to reject applicants all the time, they're not shy about telling someone they're not right for teh position. This is your opportunity to shine and really show them that you would be great at the job.

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

That's a GOOD sign! They wouldn't waste their time with that if they weren't really considering you! They'd just thank you for coming in and send you on your way. Show them that you're enthusiastic and not afraid to get in there and ask questions. It's basically like part of the interview process. Good luck!!

Being offered to shadow is a very good sign; however, it doesn't mean that you have the job just yet. Be sure to bring your A-game when you shadow. Best of luck.

Well that's a relief!! I am going to do the best I can when I shadow!!
