Of those RNs who recently finished a program...

Published

Hi Everyone!.. I have been reading past posts/threads and there are many of the same questions, "I am thinking about becoming a LNC....." I am very curious as to what others have decided.

What program did you choose?

Of those that have finished in the past year, how has starting out been for you?

Anyone have children at home?

What has been your best advice?

What did you fret over that turned out not to be so bad? and vice-versa

What did you wish you knew before starting out?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience! I am still doing my 'research' before I make a decision...

Hello, meg5335

I just wanted to wish you much luck with your decisions to become LNC.

You know Meg5335, I have been trying to think of what to tell you but I am just not sure what information that you are looking for that hasn't already been posted on this forum.

I have not officially opened for business yet but I have worked cases with attorneys by chance over the last few years without a certification. I have since recently moved from that locale but I fully intend to market those attorneys as soon as I have all the last minute details in place and have my "grand opening" as a CLNC. It may be a struggle for me to get full time business quickly, particularly since I do not have the personal and professional contacts in this area like I did before we moved, but I fully intend to keep at it until I can make it work. Even if that means driving several hundred miles to market those attorneys that I have worked with before.

Keep going through the threads and reading all the info. SirI and TNButterfly have been very helpful since I decided to make the fulltime leap several months ago. If you think of something more concrete to ask after you read all the threads, post your thoughts.

To be a bit more specific, my question arose from reading the sticky threads and there were posts from 2005, 2006 and I was wondering what those nurses are doing now and if they were able to become working LNC.

Thank you in advance!

Dear Meg,

I recently graduated from LNC program but have not determined what area in which to practice. The knowledge gained from LNC course is invaluable in all nursing areas, though. I look at all my responsibilities in the hospital a little differently now. Have I established a duty? What are the SOCs? How can I help my fellow nurses and doctors avoid liability? How can I better advocate for my patient? All these and many more questions are answered by taking a good LNC course.

Good luck,

PC
