October 2012 NSUH Fellowship

Published

The job posting for the October 2012 fellowship at NSLIJ opened up on the website on 8/9/2012. i applied on 8/11/2012. Still no response from them for a interview. When should i expect to hear from them? How can i follow up?

Hi.. I am new to this forum. I applied for this fellowship also, around August 14th, and I haven't heard anything yet. Do you have any further information? Have they contacted you for an interview?

No. i do not have any further info and they have not contacted me for an interview but i got into the new grad internship at VNSNY. So i am going to do that instead.

Hello. I applied to the NSLIJ fellowships also and have yet to hear back from them. Also, I heard that there is a hiring freeze right now..

I also applied to all fellowships- heard nothing.

THere is alittle trick I learned on their website.

After you apply if you go back and look at jobs you applied for, if it allows you to withdraw your application it means they havent looked at it. If it does not say withdraw that mean they have reviewed it. THey reviewed my last one last month but i never got a phone call. My newest applications havent even been reviewed

Hiring freeze! Geez I hope not!

Hi 987!

I don't think this is true because I applied for the ED Fellowship and I got an interview (so obviously they reviewed it) yet it still says 'withdraw'

I did get an email for one position saying I didn't get the job and that's the only application that doesn't have 'withdraw' on it...soo I'd say they take the withdraw away when they aren't considering you anymore (because they probably have already withdrawn the application themselves)

Guess you're right...makes sense. I also got an email saying I didnt get the job- I think it was for a FLoat team position.

I also applied for the fellowshipd (SICU and Neuro) havent heard anything. Wonder if they started calling or if its too early yet to really know

Definitely too early, they will probably start calling people this week.

Regarding the fellowships...they start picking people for interviews within 3-4 days after it has been posted. About 10 people are chosen for interviews, 5 are selected. I heard this from a person who is currently in a fellowship.

I don't know what fellowship you are referring to but I applied to the ED fellowship and I was called for an interview a week later. Then I was actually interviewed a week after that. The woman I interviewed with said she had 16 more people to interview that week (in addition to however many had been interviewed already) and there were 7-9 spots available (between manhasset and LIJ hospitals).

The fellowship applications are posted for exactly 4 days. They then call people for interviews a week later but I believe they interview quite a few more than ten. There are a number of different fellowships available so it depends on what they are looking for.

The fellowship that I mentioned was the Cardiothoracic ICU fellowship. Each fellowship is different..so perhaps for that fellowship..only 10 people were interviewed. Thanks for the info, ZellRN.
