Does anyone have more information on the new OCNE requirements, specifically requiring any CNA hours requirement?
I have taken all the prerequisites for the LCC nursing program (LPN-RN, 2 year program). By the time we applied for 2005 admission, I didn't have Microbiology finished, nor did I have the 3000 CNA hour requirement satisfied. It feels like I'm whining, but I think a 3000 hour CNA requirement to be competitive is CRAZY! It's great patient care experience, but it forces nursing pre-req students to work near the poverty level just to get into Nursing school. How would a single mom support her family and try to get into nursing school at these wages??
I guess my question is, Will the new BSN program require a certain number of CNA hours? I have a BA degree. If I can determine that the new BSN program at LANE does not require such an excessive amount of CNA hours, I will go into pharmaceutical sales for a couple of years to stash some money aside so I don't have to work during nursing school.

I'm in 2nd yr at LCC. There was a speaker from OHSU talking about the RN-BSN program but she went also went over OCNE briefly. I'm pretty sure that there is no work requirement just academic requirements and an in person interview. Mt Hood and a few other CC's have already started this year here's a link to their admit page admissions I think LCC starts 2006-7.
Good luck!
