Hi 2nd yr student here. One of our clinical sites uses NS flush bags following IVPB's set to run 5cc after the piggyback has run through. Some of our instructors don't like this system saying that this flush doesn't create the same positive pressure as a regular flush on a saline lock and that blood may come up the line. In my limited experience I haven't seen any difference. If there's a positive pressure lock like a Maxiflo then when the flush has finished running it should work the same as flushing with a syringe. . . right? I'm not sure about the economics, but here flushes are 10cc and are in the pyxis and are not cheap! Esp c 2x q6 iv meds to give that are incompatible Roddy
  2. I'm in 2nd yr at LCC. There was a speaker from OHSU talking about the RN-BSN program but she went also went over OCNE briefly. I'm pretty sure that there is no work requirement just academic requirements and an in person interview. Mt Hood and a few other CC's have already started this year here's a link to their admit page admissions I think LCC starts 2006-7. Good luck!
  3. whoops sent you their links page! It's on http://www.immspec.com/whatisebgc.htm "It is not clearly stated, but we recommend that the foreign worker remain employed by the sponsoring employer for at least six (6) months after the visa is issued to show good intent regarding the employment relationship." So maybe there's some wiggle room for you. I'd still check with a lawyer tho. Roddy
  4. RockNurse, Are you positive you have an I-551 permanent resident card and not just an employment authorization status like a H-1 visa? Because getting a green card as I understand takes a lot longer than 4 months and the process happens here in the US not in an interview overseas. It also takes 6 months to 3 years to get processed. I just had mine renewed and it took a year to get my shiny new piece of plastic. Whatever the case this site: http://www.immspec.com/RN/infores.htm recommends that you stay with your sponsoring employer for a least 6 months before changing jobs. Roddy
  5. In Oregon Physician Assisted Suicide is legal- http://www.ohd.hr.state.or.us/chs/pas/pas.cfm For info, stats, etc check the ohsu site for nursing involvement- http://www.ohsu.edu/ethics/guidebookchap8.htm Roddy
  6. Hi Michelle, I'm a long time lurker here finally applying to BSN programs. I'm accepted to U of P (transfer into Junior year of Nursing program) but even with a top of the range financial aid package the only way I could afford to go there is through the Providence program. So I have an interview next Saturday for it and will (hopefully) get all my questions answered. It's an hour long interview with a member of the faculty and a Providence manager so I should. I'll post what I find out. I'm also applying at OHSU where I'd prefer to go and my local cc, Lane as backup (ha ha actually harder to get in there than at BSN programs) Of course all their application and acceptance dates are so staggered that it's almost impossible to have all offers open and directly comparable. Oh well. . Roddy
