OCNE requirements
Does anyone have more information on the new OCNE requirements, specifically requiring any CNA hours requirement? I have taken all the prerequisites for the LCC nursing program (LPN-RN, 2 year program). By the time we applied for 2005 admission, I didn't have Microbiology finished, nor did I have the 3000 CNA hour requirement satisfied. It feels like I'm whining, but I think a 3000 hour CNA requirement to be competitive is CRAZY! It's great patient care experience, but it forces nursing pre-req students to work near the poverty level just to get into Nursing school. How would a single mom support her family and try to get into nursing school at these wages?? I guess my question is, Will the new BSN program require a certain number of CNA hours? I have a BA degree. If I can determine that the new BSN program at LANE does not require such an excessive amount of CNA hours, I will go into pharmaceutical sales for a couple of years to stash some money aside so I don't have to work during nursing school.

Please take a look at the board, bpdcentral.com. There you will find many people who are in very similar situations. Walking away is very difficult, but sometimes necessary.

DD Consulting fees
Hi Larry: I was scanning the DD posts and came across your unanswered post. I live in Oregon as well and am interested in DD nursing. I'm hoping to enter Nursing School in 2005. I have a son with autism. So, what is the update on your situation? Did you put a proposal together and did it lead to a position with OR Human Services?

nursing schools in Oregon
Jrnalist2RN: At Lane CC, you can segregate the grades for classes you took ions ago and not have them count in your GPA for applying to Lane's nursing school. The classes you took still count for satisfying prerequisites, as long as you passed them with a decent grade. There are certain time length restrictions. You might check to see if your school has a similar policy. I heard that OHSU has classes in Eugene, but am having difficulty finding info on this program. Anyone know of this??

Going from a nurse to a doctor?
The OB/Gyn who delivered my babies had been a nurse before he became a doctor. He was wonderful. Very kind, took time with his patients.
