chubbann, i can send you some links with regards to your concern especifically police certificate in singapore:http://www.immihelp.com/immigration/police-certificates.html
you can also find here some counties that do not need to obtain police certificates as they are not available. in fact one of these countries is Saudi Arabia where i work there 20 years ago. thanks for immihelp.com link.

the nvc for ds230 is requiring a police certificate from the police authorities of locality, does it mean an NBI clearance? or just a police clearance? does anybody here have any idea??? thanks.

NBI clearance is different from the Police certificate stated at DS230. you may refer the link i wrote before this for the police certificate. you can obtain this NBI clearance at any local NBI office here in the Philippines particularly where you live.

Is this diff. from the local NBI clearance?
Any local office? Even the one in the malls?
you can obtain NBI clearance depending where you live even those at the malls are now available. The central NBI office is where the cities & provinces get the data, that's why, it took a week to finished. all are the same. if for renewal, just be sure that the copy of your NBI clearance has a barcode.
So, there's no "International" NBI clearance? Just the same NBI clearance for local and embassy use and it can be processed on their satellite offices in the Malls? I thought the Mall branches are just for renewals. Thanks.
what is in the malls are only for renewals. for the firsttimers, you have to go directly to the local or central offices so that finger printing & photocopying has to be done personally. Perhaps, NBI is also using an international kind of NBI clearance, the same as international driving license but I have not encountered such one. i have not seen any form yet, lawrenceO1!
jing 16th, it means, that you can obtain this police certificate from your local PNP office,(criminal records division). aside from the police certificate that has mentioned that each visa applicant over the age of 16 must present a police certificates. police certificates must covered the entire period of applicant's residence in that area. However, there were some countries that police certificates are also considered unobtainable.
i have this problem about this police certificates. i stayed in a city (aside from my permanent residence) for 10 years, 1990-2000 for my college and post grad studies. the police won't issue a certificate that states my length of stay there (as stated in requirements for DS 230). what will i do? i only stayed in that place during class days (i go home every weekends)and i never change my address. it was just a dormnitory. do i have to obtain this police clearance? thanks...
Hi jing16th,
i think PNP will just state in your police certificate that you have"NO CRIMINAL RECORDS as far as their office is concerned. i asked recently in our PNP office, only the finger printing is what they did, i believe that there were some offices has no finger printing, and the big statement stating that I have no criminal records. anyway, you can include the years or what you wish in your ds230. for instrance in this case, , if you have derogatory records before i don't think so that will be obliterated on their current records. all should be intact. so years won't matter anymore. that's my personal opinion .May God bless us all.
