how to obtain CNA license

U.S.A. Washington

Hi there, I just have a question regarding CNA licensing. I'm a graduate of Nursing in the Philippines last 2010, and moved here in the States just this year. I am planning to obtain a CNA license first before taking the NCLEX exam to become a US-RN. My question is...How and where do I start? Do I need to enroll to a certain school before I can do that? I hope someone could explain the process to me cause I'm kinda confused. Thank you and hoping for your response:)

Hi- where do you live? I could probably make a list of local schools if you tell me which city.

I live here in Issaquah WA :)

hi, kristyhellmann. Do you have a license as an RN in the Philippines? If yes, then you don't need to go to a CNA class. Just fax or mail the copy of your license, diploma and TOR to OBRA Nursing Assistant Registry and they will send you an application packet including reviewers on how to take the CNA test here in washington. Just click this link for more information, http://www.aasa.dshs.wa.gov/professional/nat/BECOMING%20A%20NA%20text.htm

I hope it helps and good luck.

I didn't have the time to take the licensure exam so it's a no :( so does it mean I have to take the whole course again? If I just pursue my nursing career instead do you know what are the requirements?I'm taking my toefl exam this august and other than that I don't have any idea what WA state requires.

Yes, you need to take a CNA course. If you plan to take the NCLEX, you need to take TOEFL and CES report from CGFNS.

You also need a license from the Philippines if you plan to take the NCLEX Exam here in Washington. I suggest that you should take your licensure at the state of California 'cause they don't require license from back home.

can I just endorse my license here in WA after I took it in California?

I think my other option for now is to take the CNA course training...can some one pls send me the list of schools here in WA? thanks guys!

Oh I live here in Issaquah, WA

Were you able to find a program and take your exam?
