I am going to OBLC(active duty) in March 2010(my choice). I know it is over g months from now but I like to plan things and I have a few questions. Everyone and anyone who knows the answers please help...:wink2:
1. Does anyone know the March OBLC dates?
2. Exactly how long is OBLC, from the day to arrive to the day you leave? I though 10 weeks but then I read 9.
3. When does the graduation take place? Is it after the whole course or is it after the first 7 weeks before going into your specific track?
4. Is the graduation a big event, like something your family(husband and kids) should fly in town to see?
5. As a vegetarian/vegan, is there any advice fro me getting through OBLC and eating the MRE?
6. Finally last but not least as this is a very important question, when you leave San An how long before you have to report to your 1st Duty station,?I am confused about the timing of this but I will have to have time to get back to Missouri, pack up my family, get to Georgia and find a place to live.

I am also going to OBLC, but 29 OCT 09. I have some questions, too. I am not sure if we are to report in uniform or not. The letter of instruction does not indicate. I'll be in the Reserve program. Because of the holiday, I'll be there 27 days. I heard the graduation is no big deal. We rec'd an email from the APMC telling us to be sure we are the best shape possible. I would guess that went out because they had a lot of unprepared folks showing up in San Antonio.

hopeful army np, when did you go before the board for selection? how long did you wait before you received orders for your first duty station and to find out what oblc you're going to?!
i hope you've mostly got things figured out!! i know waiting is the hardest part! I think alot of people have lots of questions about oblc! :)
My packet went to boards 2 June, I commisioned into IRR on 23 June, received phone call and confirmation of my 1st Duty Station around 27 August, I then requested March OBLC and the LTC said ok. I don't have any "official" orders or dates as of yet but since I am not going to March I may not get orders for awhile yet I guess.

The orders may not come until just before you go. I go to OBLC 29 OCT 09 and just rec'd my orders about two weeks ago.
Wow, I'm hopeful that since I'm Active Duty I will find out sooner, I need to secure housing for my family. I know where I'm going but I don't think I can get housing until I receive my orders and a sponser. Two weeks before OBLC would be bad.
