OB Project Help!

I am stumped on a project idea for my OB clinical. It can be on anything ante, intra or postpartum, or newborn. Was thinking of doing importance of breastfeeding, but feel a lot of other people will do that too, and I would like to be more creative but I can't think of anything! We have to find three research articles based on the topic, and have videos/posters/etc to present to the class. Anyone do this project? What did you do? Thanks for any and all ideas!

a hot topic right now is female circumcision, there some great articles out there that explain the different types, how to deal with this issue, etc.

Also, male circumcision, the new information, why it's not necessary, etc.

Breastfeeding: As a lactation consultant, I have to tell you, we always need more info, you could do "new research"

Baby friendly hospitals: This should be the goal of all hospitals, check out babyfriendlyusa.org. I use wrote a big paper for my masters program, there are ten steps, this works out nicely for any project.

Cultural awareness: In general, how does each culture look at pregnancy, birth, postpartum: customs, how they celebrate, things like baptisms, blessingways, etc.

Homebirths: I'm a homebirth midwives, so I always like and appreciate students who actually look up the research and give the facts about homebirth and present it.

epidurals: The truth, the real risks, etc. so that people can make true informed consent about it.

Kangaroo care

Good luck! I'm working on my masters practicum project and also looking for ideas, I have to develop and present curriculum and want to do something in the ob field. It's turning out to be harder than I thought, it's 60 hours at least!

I had to do a project in my leadership class in my program and I chose Gestational Diabetes. It was a relatively easy topic to find lots of research on and I was able to learn and teach my fellow students great information. I am now a new grad that was fortunate enough to get my dream job working on an L&D floor, and we see MANY GDMs.

Good luck!
