OB/PEDS Honors project help

Published

Hey guys, you have helped me so much in the past, thought I'd ask for ideas.... I am starting my OB rotation in August and have to start an honors project ASAP. Any interesting topics you remember from school? Anything recent in the news? I know I helped a girlfriend with a paper years ago on VBAC, but was hoping for something a bit more controversial and timely. I saw the reports on the HIV "cured" patient who came up positive last week, any other ideas? I really appreciate the creative topics y'all have come up with in the past, love to read what you come up with on this one. Thank you all so much in advance!!!

I read an article not too long ago about the impact of experienced nurses on c-section rates. Seems newer nurses aren't as apt to encourage lady partsl birth ? Sorry I'm not somewhere I can access specifics for you.

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

What about HIV+ breastfeeding moms?

Routine circumcision- you'll find a TON of info on this.

You can do some research about cultural traditions, too, like not feeding the baby until the milk comes in.

All of these are highly controversial. You'll probably get the most info on the circumcision (the AAP goes back and forth on their recommendations for this), but for the HIV one, you'll see a lot of mixed recommendations if you do a worldwide search. Very interesting research supporting both sides of that argument.

Thank you both so much for your suggestions, I am excited to start my research!
