Specialties Correctional

I am having trouble finding patient education for my pregnant inmates. It needs to be at a 5th grade reading level. Information such as what to do when breast milk comes, aftercare for lady partsl delivery, c-section incision care etc........ If any one could help me it would be greatly appreciated!

You does your OB care? We have a contracted OB that comes in every week and he normally brings us all the pt ed we need.

BTW ... cabbage leaves are what we use to dry them up ...

Cabbage leaves? Interesting....

Do you need this for Postpartum education, for example discharge instructions????

And yes cabbage leaves do work, 24 hours and milk is gone!

I'm not a mod or anything, so don't take this the wrong way, but you may find a better answer on the OB/GYN Nursing section.

Pregnancy education for at-risk and poorly-educated patients is not so much a corrections problem as it is a general problem with our society, and there may be folks in that section with much more helpful information. :twocents:

To those of you who posted about cabbage leaves. I'd love to hear more. I am working on an article on holistic modalities of treatment in corrections. I just posted a new thread. This is the type of thing I am very interested in. A suggestion for educational materials. Try planned parenthood. You also can google whatever patient instructions you are looking for. Take the best and easily understandable. Check to see they meet community standards and write your own.
