I'm thinking about getting certified in maternal/newborn nursing --> RNC-MNN. I'll have worked mother-baby 2 years this August. Those of you with certifications... how did you study? How long did it take you to cover the material before testing?

I'm trying to "climb the ladder" with my current hospital as well... so I don't want to try and do too much at once... so any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Also, how many CEs do you have to do to renew every 3 years? Thanks!

Start by going to the National Commission for Certifying Agencies. National Certification Corporation â€" Home. All the info you need can be found there in the MNN section including Terms of Certification and Certification Maintenance.

Any suggestions on books for the RNC? Wanted to look on Amazon

Core Curriculum by Mattson for MNN. I used that for my RNC studying.

Attend a conference put on by proed center...and sit for the paper exam after you have been repeat ing everything you know...I am not a fan of reading a book ...I think hearing and reviewing it is far more effective. The conference is pricey..300 or so...but the paper exam is cheaper than online...and you will walk away from the conference with about 25 ceus...

You will be a better nurse for it too.

Good luck
