PALS and the L&D nurse

Specialties Ob/Gyn

I have a question for those of you who work L&D and/or postpartum or newborn nursery.

Do you do ro maintain PALS certification? I got mine a number of years ago and am do for recert., but frankly don't feel like it and feel it is pointless. I work strictly OB and maintain my ACLS (since i work with adults), my BLS( or course) and my NRP. I just don't see the point in having the PALS on top of this all since I work with adults and NB and alot of the PALS things is covered in either ACLS or NRP.

Also am interested if you are a traveler who does OB if the hospitals are requiring you to have PALS.

Thanks for your opinions and insight.

I just finished a travel assignment and the hospital did not require me to have PALS as long as I had the NRP and BLS.
