Hello everyone
I was wondering if it is the norm for students to do exams during L&D; I had read somewhere, maybe on this site, that most schools do not allow students to do this as you really have to be trained/experienced/etc. to not possibly cause damage. My studies in the text indicate something similar. What do you think? Thankyou and I hope everyone is doing well.
Hello there! I finished my OB rotation in May and I loved it! As students we weren't able to do vag exams, but we were able to do the head to toe assessment, fundus checks, etc. However, I talked to one of the students in the preceptorship/6th semester clinical in OB, and she said we do get to vag checks with our preceptor. I picked OB as my #1 choice for my preceptorship so I will probably get to try it! Hope this helps.

thanks for the input, everyone; its interesting how schools do it so differently. I am not panicking anymore but I will attempt to avoid that exam; from what I'm learning, in our text, it could be dangerous if you're not "a skilled practitioner" ......maybe the same could be said for a foley though or IV.....so hopefully it will be uneventful and a memory soon.....!!!!!!!!!
