Has anyone taken the computer based OASIS Certification Exam COS-C through OASIS Answers? None of the preparation classes are offered local so I'm going to take the exam at one of the approved testing centers. I am reviewing the OASIS information provided by CMS to take the exam. I was wondering if anyone had taken the exam and if its pretty much basic routine questions about the OASIS? If anyone has taken it could they share any tips or areas I should focus on. I've worked in home health for over 20 years and I hope I can pass it without the class. I guess I will soon find out lol.

Passed the COS-C exam and I took the HCS-O exam and passed it also. Took the HCS-D ICD-10 exam a couple days ago waiting for my results.

I'm reviewing the same information too, and have worked in home health for over a decade. I couldn't really find any other study materials out there except for what CMS has provided.

I am a field nurse and was wondering what the benefit would be for me if I took the
Oasis exam and passed it. Could I command a higher soc rate? Or is it only beneficial to one who was interested in QA types of positions? I took the course just to help myself be more accurate in the assessment an documentation but didn't take the exam because I couldn't see any real benefit for someone who wants to be in the field. Any thoughts?

I'm still trying to figure it all out. I'm currently working for a home health agency in the QA department. I started off reviewing SN notes. Last week they asked if I mind reviewing oasis SOC ROC recerts. I feel so lost and less of a nurse. I only have 3 months experience i have never done field nursing. My first job as a new LVN was working for a private company assisting patients who have disabilities. We had three group home. Was there for a year then got hired with this home health company doing QA. Help.

RoxiLVN: Oooh how I wish I had your problem right now. We can do a partial switcheroo. I understand how you feel about getting hands on direct patient care experience. I was in that position trying to get out of LTC to go to acute care. Now I wish I had a job like yours right about now, LOL. I have seen new grads get jobs ie, nsg home then hosp. whenever they can then after a couple years get the type of job you now have. I went that route in order to understand the big picture so I understand what you are talking about. Find out if you can work in the office part time or PRN until you get the experience you are craving now even working HH part-time is a start.
Knowing what I know now, I would have spent less years in direct care and been moved on to something that you are doing now. Plan your career path wisely.
Good luck.
