I've never worked at either, but when I was applying for jobs, I applied at Alta Bates. I was disgusted at how I was treated by the recruiter. She gave me the run-around, wouldn't answer certain questions, and was all-around rude (especially when she called me to see "how things were going" in the beginning of July after I indicated that I was moving to the area a month previous to that...and at 7:30 am!, I was still asleep). Needless to say, with the nursing shortage and plenty of good jobs around, I took a position at UCSF Medical Center and am really happy.

Thanks for the info...I have since learned that this place has a pretty bad rep, so I'll be staying away from there!
Where do you work at UCSF? That's another place I'm interested in.

Hi. I'm still a student but what I did learn from looking at Kaiser's job postings is that Oakland is opening up a brand new maternity unit. They had a lot of openings in L&D, Mother Baby, Nicu, etc. I'm hoping for the new grad program at Kaiser Santa Clara since I live in San Jose. Maybe you could consider Children's Hospital too?!?

Does anyone work at either of these two hospitals? Or have any info about them? (I'm specifically interested in their L&D units). If you had a choice which hospital would you work at, and why?
Thanks!
