OAKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE 2019

Pre-nursing students applying for Fall 2020/Winter 2021 start date at Oakland Community College

Published

Hello all ?

I am applying for Oakland Community College Nursing program in a few weeks and have loads of questions. Are you applying too? What's the GPA cut off? If you've graduated from or attended the program, how was/is it? Which is better, fall or winter start?

I am excited to apply and excited to meet other applying as well! We've got this!

Those of you that got the acceptance letter. Was there anything you had to do to accept your spot? My letter was indeed sent to the wrong address and with the shut down I’m not sure in they will be able to resend it to my current address. I’m almost certain I got in, as I should have at 17 points. I’m just not sure what to do to keep my position without that letter ?. I’m worried all my hard work will be for nothing.

I'm so sorry that they sent it to the wrong address. Did they tell you why they made that mistake? You have to sign it, check which start date you want and if you want to take pharm by itself, and either fax, scan, or mail it back to them. I scanned mine over and got a email telling me they received it.

Thank you! When I updated my address it didn’t transfer over to the nursing department. They just sent the letter to the address on my application (my old one). I Was unaware they wouldn’t get the update in address ?‍♀️

Any one who hasn’t gotten a letter or been able to accept their spot will get a call Friday the 27th. If not call them Friday ! I spoke with them about this last week

Does the BLS certification have to be taken through the red cross or can we go through other providers that are certified by the red cross as well?

I got my letter! They sent it via email. Thank god! Thank you all for your help. I am relieved and excited to start this new journey!

Woohoo! CONGRATULATIONS!

Anyone else get the fall start? I’ll be taking pharm this Summer. I’m wondering if Summer classes are going to be online as well, due to COVID-19.

Yes! I have fall start and I'm planning on taking Pharm over the Summer. Taking everything day by day as far as class format because of COVID-19.

Nice to meet you!

Hey! In my pre reqs I got two B's and ended up just fine. I've heard of people getting a bunch of B's and still getting in! I think due to this whole covid thing it's stressful with everything thats due and with some starting the Summer pharm it puts a kink in things but its exciting! I'm sure you'll do great! Just be sure to really put in the time studying, I cant imagine taking both AP and micro during the Summer ? I can already tell just from pharm how important those classes are, the books provide brief refreshers but its built up. If you go back all the way through this forum there a bunch of people sharing their grades and their "points" which you can't calculate yet but when you meet with a counselor to submit your app they should tell you more about that.

You got this!!

I’m late to say that you. I finished with A English B+ in micro and B in AP. But now I’m worried that I may too many repeats to my English that will bring me down and now with an A in AP/2 this fall I’m looking at 13.56 I keep thinking it was 13.2 when it’s 13.6 so now I’m mortified.
