Oakland Community College (OCC) - Fall 2006 Class

Hi -

Did anyone apply to the Oakland Community College, Michigan ADN program for the Fall 2006 class and get accepted? I finished my pre'reqs last semester and just got my letter yesterday saying a was not selected. :o No surprise though since I know there are a lot of students applying who finished their pre'reqs before me.

For those that were accepted, did anyone finish there pre'reqs last semester (Spring 2006)? Or the Winter 2006 semester? Hopefully some that finished in Winter 2006 got accepted!

On the letter they sent me saying I was not accepted, they said if I had questions that I needed to submit them in writing. I was thinking about asking where I was on the list so I might be able to guess whether I can get in for the Fall 2007 class. I wonder if they would even tell me since it would probably involve some research? And what's up with sending rejection letters by certified mail for $5/each!?!? Seems like a waste to tell someone not to show up for the Fall 2006 class! :rolleyes: Sorta got my hopes up for a second until I opened it!:angryfire

I finished all the pre-reqs in spring 2005 and did not get accepted! According to the letter I received, they only accepted 30 out of the 2006 applicants. Last year (2005) qualified applicants were over 400 applicants , so I guess they only accepted 30 out of (400 to 500) 2006 applicants!

Not sure if the selection criteria will be the same for the 2007 or not. I heard it's changing but not sure about the details.

Did you apply last year since you finished in the Spring of 2005? It sounded from the letter they sent recently that all the people who applied for the Fall 2005 class were either accepted last year or this year for the Fall 2006 class (because they were waitlisted).

I hadn't heard they were changing the admission requirements, but I guess I wouldn't be surprised since GPA is hardly a selection criteria at all their evaluation of candidates.

I could not apply last year because I had to finish all the pre-reqs for last year (fall 2005) by april 2005, so I guess I was kind of on the border of being accepted this year :madface:

I finished all of my pre-reqs in August 2004 and was accepted this year. It was a long wait, but I'm glad I finally made it. Hang in there :)

Congrats! Man, that's a long wait! At HFCC, it was a 1.5 year wait for me.

There seems to a be a long wait list at every community college in the country. I've read alot of threads about the wait lists and I think more students are inclined to do a BSN to get done faster. Well again Good luck and congrats!:balloons:
